Members of the AUNO Geneva Committee are constructively involved in UN-wide debates on religion and spirituality.
The main representative, Trevor Davies, chairs a Conference of NGOs (CONGO) Committee on Spirituality, Values and Global Concerns, and is involved in efforts to promote an UN Decade for Inter-religious Dialogue and Peace. Dr. John Taylor is also a member of the Committee and spoke on behalf of all the CONGO NGOs at the first ever UN General Assembly debate on Inter-religious and Inter-cultural Dialogue and Cooperation for Peace.
Together with another Partnership Committee and the World Council of Churches, a Consultation will be held on 8-11th January 2008 at the Ecumenical Institute with spiritual leaders form all the main faiths and UN Ambassadors to promote and encourage the UN General Assembly to approve a Resolution for a UN Decade on Inter-religious and Inter-cultural Dialogue and Cooperation for Peace. Visits have been made to Geneva-based Ambassadors and obtained good support and encouragement.
